Bulgaria’s
Grigor Dimitrov produced an impressive performance
in the practice match ahead of the
Rome Open. The ATP 1000 event is being organized in the capital city of Italy, where players from all over the world will compete for the ultimate prize.
Ahead of the mega-event, the 32-year-old faced the reigning
world number one
Novak Djokovic in the practice contest, where he came out on
top with a score of 6-3. The Serbian legendary tennis star looked a bit rusty
in the contest, and it will be interesting to see whether he will be able to regain his full form before the competition.
Dimitrov, on the other hand, will be hoping that he will have
a much better outing than he had during the recently concluded Madrid Open, where he was knocked out after losing in the round of 64 to the Czech Republic’s
Jakub Mensik with a score of 6-2, 6-7, 6-3. On the other hand, Djokovic will be
taking part in the upcoming competition after a gap of nearly one month. His
last appearance came in the Monte-Carlo Masters back in the early phase of April, where he was knocked out after losing in the semifinal to Norway’s Casper Ruud
with a score of 6-4, 1-6, 6-4.
