Taking place between March 4 - March 15, 2026, Indian Wells also known as BNP Paribas Open for sponsorship reasons will take place on the WTA side.
Mirra Andreeva is the defending champion taking down Aryna Sabalenka 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 in the final. Iga Swiatek was the defending champion but lost in the semi-finals to Andreeva. Albeit she did become the first woman to reach four consecutive semi-finals at the tournaments since its inception in 1989.
All will return this year alongside Amanda Anisimova, Jessica Pegula, Elena Rybakina among others for one of the top tournaments before we reach the clay court portion of the season.

Predictions Indian Wells WTA

Samuel Gill, Head Editor for TennisUpToDate.com sees Elena Rybakina being crowned champion.
For me Elena Rybakina will be crowned champion at Indian Wells, she has shown it before and aside from an illness has been one of the most consistent players on the tour.
I also rate Jessica Pegula's chances. She has decided quite superbly too to not play Austin and will now just pour all of her stock into the Sunshine Double compared to last season when in reality she played too much and it burned her out.
Others in the running in my view include Iva Jovic, Victoria Mboko and Elina Svitolina

Jessica Pegula to continue her wonderful run?
Cristhian Avila, Editor for TennisUpToDate.com sees Aryna Sabalenka or Elena Rybakina as being crowned champion.
Several names made headlines in the Middle East, despite the absence of big names casting a shadow over both tournaments. For Indian Wells, one of the players who will arrive with the most motivation is the world No. 1, Aryna Sabalenka, a two-time finalist at the tournament and defending a good amount of points from her runner-up campaign in 2025.
The Belarusian will have in mind leaving the Sunshine Double with at least one trophy, and Indian Wells is the one that is still pending for her. Back in 2023 she fell in her first final there against Elena Rybakina, who was taking revenge for the Australian Open final two months earlier. This time I see them as the two favourites, and I expect deep runs from both until the final — if they do not meet earlier.
The conditions may favour several of the local players, although this time I lean towards Amanda Anisimova, who has looked good this year so far, although she still needs to reach the final stages — and not just remain as one of the most consistent players. The recent Doha champion, Karolina Muchova, perhaps after her first major title, can find the consistency she needs to stay regularly in the latter rounds.
