Grigor
Dimitrov angrily confronted a fan at the
Shanghai Masters after he tripped
while walking through a crowd. The world No. 10 was walking among a crowd of
fans in Shanghai when he apparently stumbled.
In a video
captured by a fan at the moment, Dimitrov is seen quickly getting back on his
feet and shooting a look toward a person he believed had caused him to trip.
The Bulgarian was clearly upset and pointed his finger at the individual before
turning around and continuing in the opposite direction.
The
Bulgarian defeated
Alexei Popyrin (20th seed) in the third round 7-6(5), 6-2.
Speaking about the win over the Australian, Dimitrov mentioned after the match:
“I saw the stats a little bit, and that said it all. I think I was just very
happy that I was able to play a good match, that's all,” he said.
"I
didn't really want to expect too much of my game, but all I knew was that if I
did the right things, if I was serving well, returning well, and using every
opportunity I had, it was enough, it was plenty.”
"I
think after that first set tiebreak, I started to read the game a little bit
more. I think his serve kind of changed its direction a little bit, I was able
to read his serve very well. Ultimately, I found a good, yeah, a good distance
between me and the ball, and I was executing very well."
In his
quest for the quarterfinals, Dimitrov will face 19-year-old
Jakub Mensik, who
surprised 6th seed Andrey Rublev a couple of days ago and recently defeated
Alexandar Shevchenko in the third round. “Oh, another battle,” Dimitrov
commented when asked about his next opponent. “I mean, now I think the years
are becoming (laughing) longer, like a bigger stretch, but that's okay.
"Yeah,
another match, honestly, just another match. I played him once this year,
Madrid, if I remember correctly. Yeah, difficult match, I think, on both ends.
He grabbed that one. So, yeah, very dangerous opponent."
