Frances Tiafoe attended the Citi Open in Washington as a child and now he is all set to face Kevin Anderson or Jenson Brooksby in the second round.
"You’re like, ‘Wow, I can maybe play with these guys one day, even be in the same locker room as these guys," Tiafoe said on Sunday ahead of the tournament starting. “I think those experiences definitely helped me to be the man I am today.”
He also spoke about the 'Rafa Effect' with Nadal the top name involved in the tournament as he chose the US Open warm-up as his first tournament back.
“It’s just unbelievable that he came here to D.C," he added. “Having a player of his caliber here is pretty legendary.”
