Legendary former ATP doubles star, Todd Woodbridge says that Carlos Alcaraz doesn't have the ability of Novak Djokovic as of yet in one facet which is how he dictates play.
The Serbian player has had the knack for a long time to steer the game in his direction no matter what opponent he has which has stood him in good stead and brought him a lot of titles. But according to Woodbridge, Alcaraz doesn't have that as of yet. This could be true mainly due to his display against Alexander Zverev at the Australian Open for instance when he allowed the German ace to play his own game to perfection and easily beat him making him look very ordinary.
Djokovic on the other hand rarely gets beaten and when he does, it is either a shock or against a performance of their life kind of defeat so there isn't many freak defeats. But aside from that Woodbridge sees Alcaraz as having everything.
"This is a period of absolutely coming to terms with stardom, money, fame, pressure, time management. He's young; he doesn't have that ability of Novak (Djokovic), yet, to dictate every term on the court. He's got sheer brilliance and exuberance and youth and athleticism and shot-making, but that's still coming together," he said in Five in Focus.
"That you can overcome all the problems that you have. It doesn't matter what problems you have. If you believe in yourself, you have a really good team around, you work hard, everything can turn around."
