Alejandro Davidovich Fokina was sent tumbling out of the French Open by Damir Dzumhur and it seems his coach wasn't exactly best pleased either as he decided to quit and leave without telling him.
Davidovich Fokina said in his post match press conference that he said he was unwell and left for Miami without informing him. He said that he and Puerta had lunch together after his first match following which he said he wasn't feeling well and left for the hotel.

Random text to cut ties

His coach later informed him of his intention to cut ties and end their association via text and left for Miami.
“After the (first round) match against Dzumar, we had lunch and after that, I went to cool down a little bit. He said he was feeling bad. He was going to the hotel and everything was normal,” Alejandro Davidovich Fokina said.
“In the afternoon, like two or three hours later, he texted me this message that he will not continue and whatever," he added. "He just took the flight and flew to Miami without saying a word to us."
He denied any kind of issues with him and said that the whole episode was strange. He did add though that other players appear to have had similar issues and regret hiring him in the first place.

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina lost early.
He said though that he was a bit blindsided as he thought he was a good person so to have that dispelled and the thoughts of others proved right was a bit of an annoyance to him.
"He is an adult who makes his own choices. I don’t know if I’m gonna respond to that message," Alejandro Davidovich Fokina continued. “We didn’t fight. Everything was normal. In the match, everything was normal. I don’t know what to say because it was strange but nothing can surprise me anymore."
“I’ve had a lot of things throughout my career. So this is another thing. I thought that he was a very good person. After that, I discovered that he had done it a couple of times before with other players. I was like, okay, it was my fault to hire him," he added.
His loss marks his third second round exit at the French Open. He won the first set before soon losing out 6-1, 6-3. His best run at the French Open came in 2021 when he made the Quarter-Finals before losing to Alexander Zverev.
