According to his childhood coach Kiko Navarro, Alcaraz is undeterred by pressure and other distractions since he "loves the sport too much."
Carlos Alcaraz achieved much more this year than he ever hoped as he's currently the top-ranked player in the world with a grand slam trophy to his name. The Spaniard had humble goals of being ranked inside the top 15 by the end of the year he'll achieve that but he'll also achieve much more than he had hoped.
Such big success early in someone's career can have a detrimental impact as we have seen many times in sports. Just recently, Emma Raducanu struggled with her superstardom following her US Open triumph and while Alcaraz's rise wasn't as sudden, some still wonder how he'll handle it.
His former coach has no worries as he knows that Alcaraz loves tennis too much:
"I think it won't affect him even if he spends two years without winning a Grand Slam. I know him well, and he likes tennis too much to break down and get distracted. He will always have goals; he will not burn out."
Those are reassuring words for both Alcaraz and his fans but it's not a secret how committed to the sport he is. After all, he's the top-ranked and that doesn't happen by chance.
