Cameron Norrie will have a chance to play Novak Djokovic at the
ATP Finals after he was awarded the spot of Stefanos Tsitsipas after the Greek pulled out.
Norrie traveled to Turin as the 2nd alternate in case he was needed and an unfortunate injury to Stefanos Tsitsipas and Matteo Berrettini opened spots for both him and Sinner. His first match will come today against Casper Ruud and his 2nd one will be against Novak Djokovic. Asked about that prospect Norrie said:
“I think there’s no real game plan [when facing] Djokovic. He has such a complete game, moves so well, you can’t get the ball past him. I also think his first serve is very underrated. He’s a nightmare to play. I’ve never played him, but if I were to play him, it would be a nightmare.”
Asked about facing Casper Ruud in his maiden ATP Finals match Norrie briefly gave praise to his opponent expecting a very tough match:
“I haven’t thought about [a game plan] too much, but he’s pretty good
[with his] first serve [and first] ball, he’s pretty good in long
rallies and he moves exceptionally well. He’s probably the best mover on tour and his backhand is insane as well, so it’s tough. He’s a very good player.”
