Rising American tennis star
Ben Shelton could make a strong run at this year's
Wimbledon Championships, according to two-time champion
Andy Murray.
Shelton made his professional grass-court debut in Queens last week, and showed little sign of inexperience on the surface as he defeated compatriot J.J Wolf in straight sets. Despite falling to Lorenzo Musetti in the round of 16, Shelton showed enough potential to impress Murray.
"I think Ben Shelton will have a good grass court season," said the former World No.1. "I think his game will be very well suited to grass with the way he plays, his serve and everything, he’s very athletic, likes to come forward so I think he’ll do well."
Shelton is currently ranked 35th in the world, and could break into the Top 30 behind a solid performance at his maiden Wimbledon tournament.
