The second finalist in the
Monte-Carlo Masters will be
Holger Rune as the Dane outlasted
Jannik Sinner in a match that also featured a rain delay 1-6 7-5 7-5.
This was a very interesting match because it saw Sinner jump out to a really quick lead smashing Rune easily in the first set 6-1. The Dane was simply too erratic in this one not being able to keep the ball in play as Sinner cruised through rallies. The second set saw Rune play better taking an early 3-0 lead after which the match was paused due to rain.
They returned a bit later and Sinner was able to break back and make it interesting again. Rune served for the set when Sinner broke him and then the Italian saved set points to make it 5-5. Eventually, Rune didn't let up and got the set in the end 7-5. The final one largely saw Rune control the match better.
He really didn't have too many problems on his serve while Sinner was forced to save break points a couple of times. He simply wasn't as sure in his play as Rune was. In the end, it proved his undoing when he wanted a 30-0 advantage at 5-6 giving Rune a match point which he converted when Sinner sent a forehand into the net.
