Daniil Medvedev won't play at the
Barcelona Open next week as the Russian is one of the players pulling out of the event after a solid run at the Monte Carlo Masters.
Medvedev played some really decent tennis in Monte-Carlo making his way to the quarter-finals and losing to Holger Rune. The Russian was supposed to play in Barcelona next week but he was one of the many players that pulled out of the event and for him, it's probably because he's quite content with the way Monte-Carlo went.
Had he lost early there he probably would have made the trip to Barcelona to get in some matches but after playing a few decent one in the Principality Medvedev will probably rest up a bit and prepare for Madrid where his tennis might even work better due to the specific conditions that we have there.
On the withdrawal, Medvedev said:
“I’m really sorry I won’t be able to play Barcelona this
year. I have amazing memories from the last time I played in 2019. I
hope to be back next year and hopefully play good there.”
