Holger Rune advanced to the
Sofia Open final after Jannik Sinner retired from the match with the Dane facing Huesler on Sunday.
It was a great match between two-time Sofia Open champion Sinner and Rune with the Italian winning the opening set easily. He started to struggle physically after dropping the second set with Rune able to jump out to an early lead in the final set.
Sinner took a medical timeout and continued playing but after Rune went up a double break the Italian opted not to finish the match. Rune will have a chance to win his 2nd trophy of the year after a stretch of poor results and it's just something he needs.
He'll be favoured against Marc-Andrea Huesler who is playing is in his first singles final. The Swiss player proved better than Lorenzo Musetti beating the Italia in a match where Musetti left a lot on the table. The serve is a major weapon for Huesler and he'll certainly need it if he wants to be the supremely confident Rune.
