"I am preparing" - Djokovic targets US Open despite uncertainty

Novak Djokovic can't play at the US Open as of now but the Serbian is preparing in case he does get the chance to play.

Many people are working on getting Novak Djokovic into the US Open as the Serbian is banned under current rules. He is a non-vaccinated foreign national and as such, he can't enter the US legally. There are some ways for him to still enter the country and play at the final grand slam of the season but for not it seems unlikely.

The Serbian confirmed to fans that is preparing diligently in case he does get the chance to play, in a letter posted on Instagram. He wrote:

“I am preparing as if I will be allowed to compete, while I await to hear if there is any room for me to travel to US. Fingers crossed!”

Djokovic wrote the letter to thank fans who are trying to get him into the US Open by creating and signing petitions and also writing to authorities in the US. One fan even wrote a letter to President Biden urging him to allow Djokovic to play because it's in the national interest to do so.
