Caroline Garcia spoiled Iga Swiatek's hope of winning back at home in Warsaw and she capped off this week with a trophy.
It's the 9th career trophy for Caroline Garcia who last triumphed in Bad Homburg on the grass a few weeks ago. The last time she won a trophy before that was in 2019 and it's been a long time coming for Garcia who struggled a lot with her tennis over the pandemic. She has tremendous potential and some of her best tennis is incredibly tough to deal with.
Today was a continuation of great play by Garcia over the last couple of weeks. She lost only a handful of matches in the past couple of weeks and she confirmed her form this week as well. To get to the final, Garcia had to defeat the reigning number one player in the world - Iga Swiatek and after that win, it was clear that Garcia is playing really well.
Today she was better than Bogdan by quite a distance and she had no issues in winning the final. The opening set was won 6-4 and after that Garcia completely took off winning the final set 6-1. A superb run from Garcia and one that she will like to keep going. Congratulations.
