Juan Martin Del Potro is days away from making his return to tennis and Cristian Garin echoed the sentiments of many saying how happy he was that he is back.
Juan Martin Del Potro is a tennis player that on his peak was extremely difficult to beat even for the best like Federer, Djokovic and Nadal. The Argentine has always been quite popular with fans for his attacking playstyle and humble persona which is why many are excited to see him return to tennis. Not many tennis careers have been derailed by injury as much as his and the road was very long.
Del Potro will return next week in Buenos Aires thanks to a wild card entry and asked about that in Cordoba, the top-ranked Chilean player said:
“I am very happy that Juan Martín is returning to the Tour. I love watching him play. I know he has had injuries and the fact that he is playing again is incredible. I congratulate him. I really want to see him. I shared some training sessions in Miami with him. I saw him with great enthusiasm. It is great to see him again in tournaments.”
The sentiments are similar with many former and fellow pros as well as many fans. Del Potro is 33 years old and it's questionable how long will he be able to play but fans are hoping to see him compete at least a few more years on the highest of levels. Stories like that of Andy Murray certainly make it more plausible.
