A couple of French players are out of the Open Sud de France Open in Montpellier with Krajinovic ousting Tsonga and Gasquet sending Humbert packing.
A couple of interesting matches happened today at the ATP 250 event in Montpellier. Play lasted throughout the day and in one of the first matches, we saw Sasha Bublik defeat Herbert from France. The native player lost the opening set but fought back to win the 2nd in a very close tiebreak. In the end, Bublik proved to be the better player by winning 6-2.
Another interesting match happened between
Richard Gasquet and
Ugo Humbert. They played recently in Australia with Gasquet scoring a very tight victory over his compatriot and a similar thing happened today as well. The match was very close from the start and Humbert took the first set with 7-6(3). Gasquet did not lose hope and continued playing his game raising his level even further.
Eventually, he won the 2nd set with 6-4 and the 3rd with 6-3 to move one. Another French player in Adrien Mannarino easily bested Davidovich Fokina 6-2 6-4.
Filip Krajinovic is another player who secured another match in Montpellier and he ousted veteran
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga who put up a solid fight but eventually lost. The Serbian proved better 6-4 7-6(2).
