Rafael Nadal struggled a lot early in his match against Daniil Medvedev which made his comeback win even more impressive.
The Spaniard was able to overcome the early struggles and find holes in the game of Medvedev whom he defeated in the 2022 Australian Open final. Nadal impressed many including Medvedev who jokingly asked him after the match whether he was tired referencing his own exhaustion. Known as a fighter, Nadal proved once again just how good he is even when things don't go according to plan.
His uncle and former coach
Toni Nadal followed the match closely and said afterwards:
"Nowadays, people tend to surrender to frustration and complain too much. Rafa, though, being down 2 sets to zero had no bad face, nothing. He knew, all the time, how to overcome difficulty, which I think is the most outstanding thing from yesterday's match."
Indeed, looking from afar it seemed like Nadal never panicked, not even when he was trailing two sets to love while facing three consecutive break points. The Spaniard lost his serve when he served for the match but came right back to break Medvedev once more. He then closed out the match to snatch his 21 grand slam trophy.
