Alexander Zverev does not consider himself next-gen anymore as he believes he is an established player on the ATP tour.
Alexander Zverev has been playing on the ATP tour for several years now and while he is still only 23 years old he does not consider himself a next-gen player anymore. In his mind, teenagers like Sinner, Musetti, and Alcaraz are the true next-gen. Speaking on the matter he said:
"I don’t really want to talk about the Next Gen anymore. Honestly, as I said the other day, it seems certain to me that guys like Alcaraz, Sinner or Musetti are going to be in direct competition for the big titles from 2024.”
And while there is a strong case for his argument he is still only 23 years old. In terms of experience, the 23-year old has plenty as he reached a Grand Slam final which he nearly won. He also won the ATP Finals so experience-wise he is certainly not next-gen anymore.
For Zverev there is no doubt as he concluded with:
“For my part, I am 23 years old, I am young, certainly, but the Next Gen now, it’s them.”
