Ons Jabeur and Rafael Nadal were both in Abu Dhabi this past week taking part in the Mubadala World Tennis Championships.
The duo met at the event and Jabeur extended an invite to Nadal to play tennis with her. Talking to Eurosport after her triumph at the event she said:
“I asked him to play with me, hopefully he’ll accept. Not too much spin though, let’s see."
Jabeur defeated Bencic in the WTA match at the event despite losing the opening set. She took the place of Emma Raducanu after the Brit tested positive for COVID-19. Speaking on winning the event Jabeur admitted:
“It feels amazing. Belinda plays tough and surprised me with her drop shots, so it was great to get through it. It was always a dream to play her in an Arab country to represent Tunisia and the Arab world. A real privilege. And to pick up the victory is great."
She further said:
"I want to keep breaking record, continuing my journey, and proving I’m deserving of a place in the top 10. I’m surprised at the reaction I’ve been receiving, hopefully, what I’m doing can do something to help bring more Arab players into the game”.
