Felix-Auger Aliassime is continuously failing to live up to the potential he flashed a few years ago. The Canadian has suffered a very lacklustre 2021 season where results have been wildly inconsistent. At times it looks great and at times it's abysmal.
Despite that Auger-Aliassime played some of his best tennis thsi year at Grand Slams. On the upcoming one he said:
"I have had a good run in Grand Slams this year and I'm feeling confident I can go deep in New York.
Auger-Aliassime finally won a match by defeating Marton Fuscovics in the first round of the Western & Southern Open. Auger-Aliassime trailed in that match for a while but pulled it out in two. His next opponent will be Khachanov and on that matchup he said:
"I feel like we had a good match in Montreal [won by Karen 6-7, 7-5, 6-3 in 2019]. I had my chances. He was able to really dig deep. He's a tough guy mentally. He's able to stay tough in matches when it's not going well."
