The sight of tennis rivals
Daniil Medvedev and
Stefanos Tsitsipas practicing together in preparation for the 2024
Indian Wells tournament elicited mixed reactions from fans, as both men had been embroiled in spats over the years.
With Indian Wells set to kick off this week, it comes as no surprise that players are ramping up their practice sessions as they become acclimatized to the court and playing conditions. However, Medvedev and Tsitsipas have a rocky history, which began in 2018 when Medvedev reprimanded his Greek opponent at the Miami Open over comments made by Tsitsipas following his loss to the Russian. This led to Tsitsipas taking shots at Medvedev following the match, labeling him as "boring", and the duo have had tense encounters ever since.
Fans hoping for possible bromance between the stars
With the news spreading that both men were seen practicing together, it didn't take long for tennis fans and commentators to chime in on the prospect of both players finally burying the hatchet..
"They'll be having a roger and rafa moment on the bench next," wrote a fan on Twitter.
"I can’t breathe this is too much," another fan said.
"Didn't think this would happen exactly one year after Medvedev threw shade at Tsitsipas during the Dubai trophy presentation ceremony. Not the first time they've practiced together but good to see nonetheless," wrote tennis journalist Srihari on Twitter.
"What's stefanil doing to do next to surprise us? Play doubles together?!?! (WINK WINK COUGH COIHG NUDE NUDGE)," wrote an optimistic fan.
"What? Two grown men burying the hatcher so they can trade tis on how to beat Sinner?" speculated another fan.
