With panic already setting in for fans of Rafael Nadal, those who follow
Novak Djokovic will also have alarm bells ahead of Roland Garros after losing to Dusan Lajovic earlier on Friday at
Srpska Open Banja Luka.
Djokovic spoke afterwards with a pretty damning verdict of his overall game currently and said that he cannot beat players good on this surface with how he is current playing.
Describing it as 'way below his desired level', it will be firmly back to the drawing board for Djokovic who has not benefited from not playing Indian Wells and Miami seemingly with Madrid and Rome set to come for his soul-searching mission.
“I had my chances, but I didn’t take them. I played quite passively, with many mistakes and that resulted in the defeat”, said Djokovic on Friday as per
Tennis Majors.
“I was way below my desired level”, he continued. “I can’t win against opponents who are so solid on this surface with this game. I didn’t even feel good physically on the court: I felt slow, with sluggish legs; I missed a lot of balls and was totally out of shot. At times I played well, but well below my level.”
