Alexander Zverev has played some amazing tennis this week but he also lost focus a couple of times forcing him to play several additional sets of tennis that could have been avoided. That was the case against Felix Auger-Aliassime who made it interesting after snatching the 2nd set from Zverev and forcing a 3rd. The German lamented the fact after the match:
“I did make it difficult for myself once again, that needs to stop happening. One easy mistake and the second set went away. But I am proud of myself because at the beginning of the third set it could have gone his way easily.”
Zverev recorded his 300th win as well at the event which is a major achievement for any tennis player, especially one on the younger side (24 years). The achievement made Zverev proud but he is looking for more. In order to do that, he will have to go through Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals, and on facing him he said:
“He [Alcaraz] has improved a lot. He has made big steps forward and is a great player, so I am looking forward to that match.”
