Although there is still a lot of uncertainty regarding the vaccination status for players competing at the upcoming
Australian Open, some details have emerged regarding whether players will be placed in quarantine upon arrival.
When completing the recently released invitation form for the Australian Open, players must declare their arrival dates. Players arriving after December 27th will be required to ‘bubble’. However, it has is not totally explicit what the term ‘bubble’ refers to specifically, and has not yet been officially clarified.
Furthermore, players arriving after December 27th will also have to arrive via a chartered flight organized by the Australian Open, as happened in 2021. The Australian Open will take place from the January 17-30, 2022, meaning players may have to ‘bubble’ or quarantine for up to three weeks.
Therefore, players and teams alike have started applying for the relevant travel visas required to enter Australia for the Grand Slam tournament. The visas should be granted and received between the third and fourth weeks of November, should the visa applications be submitted before the November 2nd deadline.
