Miomir Kecmanovic will play for the Serbian
Davis Cup at the Finals this week and he explained that playing for his nation alongside Djokovic has been a longtime dream of his.
There is no bigger honor in any sport than to play for your country and many young players in all sports dream about the day when they will get to represent their country. A lot of things need to go right for that to happen but for Miomir Kecmanovic it all turned out rather perfectly. Growing up, Kecmanovic naturally idolized Djokovic and now he will play with him for Serbia.
Speaking about Djokovic and other Serbian tennis legends like Troicki and Zimonjic, Kecmanovic said:
"I watched, enjoyed, admired, as I admire them today. And even
then, I wanted to be with them one day, to be part of that great team,
to fight and win together. I have worked a lot since then, I have
run thousands of kilometers, but my wish has come true. The new wish is
to win a new Davis Cup trophy for Serbia, and I firmly believe in that."
For Kecmanovic it's a great opportunity to play with and learn from Djokovic who himself has underlined that Serbia is aiming for the trophy. They last won it in 2010 and they came close once more but the loss affected Djokovic deeply. He is determined to bring another trophy to Belgrade and he has promised to leave it all out on the court for it.
