Novak Djokovic and Boris Becker worked for a time together and while they parted ways they remain in contact.
Becker counts himself as one of the biggest Novak Djokovic fan as has oftentimes spoken very highly of him. However he wasn't so positive after his US Open defeat to Daniil Medvedev. Truth be told, it was a very uncharacteristic match by Djokovic who seemed overwhelmed a bit. Becker said:
“For Novak Djokovic, it was one match too many today. He was mentally not able to control his emotions. He wanted to make history. He wanted to become the most successful Grand Slam player of all time. He didn’t want to become one of the best – he wanted to become the best, and he would have underlined that with a victory here today. I have never seen Novak so clueless.”
While it may seem harsh by Becker he does have a point. Djokovic at times truly did not know how to respond. He showed very little emotion as if he was content with the loss which is highly uncharacteristic of Djokovic. Despite all of that, Becker agrees that Medvedev was the best player in New York and a deserving champion:
“Daniil Medvedev deserved to win, deserved to win the tournament. He was the best player over these two weeks and only lost one set in total on the way to his first Grand Slam.”

Congratulations to both Champions. Amazing fairytale story on woman’s side with 2 teenagers competing in the finals. Emma you are fantastic 👏🙌 Daniil, you absolutely deserve your first Grand Slam title Молодец! Аплодирую 👏 #USOpen
