"I have to take my time before I will be coming back": Becker rules out return to Wimbledon punditry in 2023

Boris Becker has ruled out a return to Wimbledon punditry in 2023 explaining that he has to take his time before coming back to the role that he held for a while.

Becker was part of the BBC coverage of Wimbledon for a while but he wasn't part of it last year as he was stuck in jail. He won't be making one this year despite some suggestions that he might be part of it remotely as he can't enter the UK legally until his full sentence expires. He was released early and deported back to Germany but his full sentence has yet to expire.

In a recnet interview, Becker admitted that he misses London:

"I miss London, it is my favourite city in the world. I’ve been there for a long time. I’m going to miss Wimbledon this year. I have to take my time before I will be coming back."

He further talked about his experience in prison saying that his sporting personality helped him through it:

‘"You’re famous, everyone knows who you are. It can play against you. Thankfully they liked my personality. The only thing you have is your character and your personality. That’s your currency. If they think you have money, you have a problem anyway, so that wasn’t a problem with me"
