Martina Navratilova has been impressed with Carlos Alcaraz and
Elena Rybakina in Miami backing both to end up as winners of the event completing the Sunshine Double.
Martina Navratilova has been present in Miami calling matches for the Tennis Channels and she shared her thoughts on the event so far. Two names stuck out to her and they are Alcaraz and Rybakina. Both are playing really well right now and she could see them ending up as the champions. In fact, she thinks it's likely:
"You have to go with Alcaraz and Rybakina. I think they have a really good shot at winning the Sunshine Double, which I don't know if it has been done by both at the same time. But it could be a first. They both have a shot at it, they are the players to beat. Rybakina is in form and healthy."
A double sunshine winner actually happened in the past so it would not be the first time as Sampras and Graff did it in 1994 and Djokovic and Azarenka did it in 2006. It would be the first since then and certainly an incredible feat. She also singled out Alcaraz as particularly impressive:
"And of course, same with Alcaraz. Now healthy, I don't know how he fixed that leg but he did and he's looking very, very sharp. Every match is a Wimbledon final to him, he's fired up the same way for every single match and he's in there. I just look forward to watching great matches."
