Carlos Alcaraz doesn't think he's a favourite at Indian Wells ahead of his return to the event because he hasn't played on hard coruts for a while.
Alcaraz played well in Indian Wells last year when he made his debut there but he's not expecting an equally good run this year. It's been a while since he played a match on a hard court event and it will take a while till he gets comfortable being on one again. Speaking to Marca, Alcaraz noted his thoughts before the event:
"I don't consider myself the favorite because I haven't played a tournament on a hard surface for a long time. It's a good goal for me and I'm going to go for it. I'd like to get a great result here because I love the tournament."
He is feeling good though as the injury that forced him to withdraw from the Acapulco event is all good:
"Right now I feel good. It's the first day I've trained with another player and the sensations have been good. We've played some points. After a few days off, I'm ready."
