Stan Wawrinka is hoping the return of Roger Federer comes soon as a Swiss newspaper reporter a setback in his recovery process.
The Swiss ace was expected to return later this month during the Laver Cup in London but it seems unlikely as Swiss newspapers reported that he suffered a setback. The news was later confirmed by his agent Tony Godsick who confirmed that Federer experienced pain in his knee but he continued practising:
"Roger has felt pain in his knee again, but he is continuing to train and has no intention of giving up anything."
Wawrinka confirmed he hopes to see him on the court soon as well admitting that it's been too long:
"It's been too long since Roger Federer's last appearance on the pitch, so I hope he'll be back as soon as possible. Fans, tournaments and other players want to see him in action again. Any tennis fan misses him."
It's unclear when he'll return to the courts but it's unlikely he will play at the Laver Cup even if he travels to London. He might play in Basel later this year as that's the only event he confirmed he'll play this year.
