Carlos Alcaraz made a selfless decision after his US Open triumph by signing up to play for Spain at the Davis Cup.
Playing for his country is something very important for Alcaraz and he demonstrated it with his actions opting not to rest and recover following a long US Open but rather continue playing. He travelled to Valencia days after lifting the trophy in New York to join his teammates.
Qualification for the Davis Cup Finalist is important for Spain and they will get a huge boost with Alcaraz playing. It's unknown how much he will actually play because the team is quite strong and they might not need him.
The Spanish did release a statement on Alcaraz saying:
"For his part, Carlos Alcaraz, who has arrived in Valencia from New York, does not plan to train this Tuesday and would reserve himself for the qualifiers on Friday and Sunday with Canada and South Korea."
