Felix Auger-Aliassime has taken the tennis world by storm over the past week, and former World No.5 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga believes the Canadian is yet to reach his full potential.
Auger-Aliassime defeated his childhood idol Tsonga in the round of 16 at the Open 13 Provence in Marseille earlier this week, but made headlines when he won his maiden ATP title in Rotterdam last weekend. The 21-year has been been on an upward trajectory over the past few months, and Tsonga was quick to heap praise on the Canadian's progress.
"Felix is a player who was watching me on TV when he was younger," recalled Tsonga. "I remember talking to his parents when he was 15: he was already very promising and very serious."
The charismatic Frenchman believes the World No.9 could go far in his career, due to his talent and work ethic.
"He was already promised the future he has today, he will continue to progress," Tsonga said of Auger-Aliassime, per We Love Tennis. "I'm sure he can break down some barriers and go even higher."
