Denis Shapovalov leveled his career maximum at the US Open after coming back twice from a set down against Taylor Fritz.

The young Canadian was close to leaving the singles tournament in the Flushing Meadows when he was down 1 set to 2 and losing 2-5 in the fourth. However, Shapovalov managed to fight back and reach the fourth round at the US Open for the second time in his career. He will be facing the seventh-seeded David Goffin in the next round and he had a lot to say following his 3rd round victory.
"He was playing incredibly well today and I think we both deserved to win," said Shapovalov, in an on-court interview. "It was great tennis and I think I just got a little bit lucky. I stayed with him in the fourth set, when he was in control, and I saw him get a little bit tight. I tried to make him play as much as possible, then I got a little bit lucky on the set point and read it correctly to hit a good forehand. I figured I needed to make a change for the fifth set, and I picked up my intensity and level."
