World number four will get the chance to compete in his first Olympic Games in 10 days once he travels to Tokyo. Playing for Greece is something Tsitsipas takes huge pride in and he underlined his desire to popularise tennis in Greece many times.
He said:
“Representing my country is the biggest honour that I could have had,
and playing at the Olympics – it’s every Greek athlete’s dream. For me Tokyo, I think it will be a
fascinating experience. Obviously I would love to give my best in each
single match and put out a good show, and maybe even impress myself at
some point.”
Tsitsipas is currently in Hamburg competing at the
Hamburg European Open where he was a runner up in 2019. Tsitsipas spoke about his desire to win that event too:
“I want to be on that board [of Hamburg Open winners] too. I know that I’m capable of being on that board, it's a matter of time, it’s a matter of dedication and work. It’s a dream.”
