Jack Draper is part of the British
Davis Cup team that travelled to Colombia for a tricky qualyfing matchup against a clay nation on their home turf.
It's an honour for Draper to finally represent his country, something he has always dreamed of. The feeling he has is excitement but he's also grateful for getting the chance to be part of the team for the first time in his career. It's something he earned with some stellar play to start the year.
He said:
“It’s an unbelievable experience for me. I’m very grateful to be a part if this team considering the amazing
players that we’ve got. With the support staff and everything, they’ve
made me feel really welcome and I’m just really happy to be here.”
He added:
“Leon (Smith) spoke to me at the end of last year and said, ‘would you be keen to come with us to Colombia’ and I said of course I want to be there, I want to be part of this team and get the win.”
Draper always had the support of his teammates which is something he looks to repay by helping them in the Davis Cup:
“Ever since I was a young player, they (Cam Norrie and Dan Evans) have supported me, the same as Andy (Murray), and I owe them a lot. I don’t think I’d be where I am now if it wasn’t for their support."
