Alexander Zverev defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime in the bett1HULKS Indoors Cologne final to lift the trophy and after the match, he spoke about the achievement.
The bett1HULKS Indoors Cologne event ended with a German champion in Alexander Zverev and there were many smiles on the court and in the stands. It was a great showing from Zverev who won in straight sets 6-3 6-3 against a tough opponent who played well all week. After the match he said:
"I had a very tough final in New York and the next final I played here I wanted to come out and obviously play my best tennis, finish the match,"
He gave praise to his opponent as well saying:
"Felix, you’re an unbelievable player. I know it doesn’t mean much right now, but I’m sure you are not only going to win one title, you’re going to win multiple, multiple titles in your career, bigger titles than this,.We know each other incredibly well… you’re going to be lifting a winner’s trophy very soon."
Zverev was very happy about his performance. He said:
"It was a good match. [In] the final I played my best tennis, as you should do in a final. The week, in general, was very positive for me. Being back in Germany after over a year was very nice for me."
Zverev will remain in Cologne for another week to compete in the second part of the Cologne tennis event. He will be extremely confident heading into that one and perhaps he will add another Cologne title.
