Former world number one Martina Navratilova has picked America’s Danielle Collins for a ‘sneaky’ semifinal or final draw in the upcoming French Open. The second Grand Slam of the year will be played from May 26 to June 09 in the French capital city of Paris, where players from all over the world will participate in a battle for the ultimate prize.
Navratilova was recently quoted in a report in which she named a surprise candidate for securing a sneaky semifinal or final draw. “She [Danielle Collins] would be my pick for a sneaky semifinal or final. I know I wouldn’t want her in my draw,” said Navratilova.
The name might look like an interesting one, but it makes sense as well, as Collins has been in great form ever since announcing that she will be retiring at the end of the ongoing campaign. The 30-year-old won the Miami Open after beating Elena Rybakina in the final with a score of 7-5, 6-3. After that, she won the Charleston Open after beating Daria Kasatkina in the final with a score of 6-2, 6-1. Her most recent appearance came in the Rome Open, where she lost in the semifinal to world number two Aryna Sabalenka with a score of 7-5, 6-2.
