Daniil Medvedev is enjoying his best RG ever since he never won a match before but his newfound confidence is the reason behind it.
His first match came against Alexander Bublik a player who is really tough to beat if he has his day, however, Medvedev easily won that match. His 2nd match featured a bit more battle against Paul but once again the Russian prevailed. After defeating Bublik he said:
“I feel really hopeful. You could see it in the match, I’m feeling that here, at least this year, with this weather, with these balls, I can play like on hard courts. Now when I’m coming into the big tournaments feeling like this, I know I’m capable of doing big things.”
Medvedev is feeling confident after finally feeling 100 %. The Russian contracted COVID in Monte-Carlo and it affected him for a while. He said:
“I feel like COVID was tough for maybe five, six weeks since I got it. Now I feel 100 percent. I was practicing like crazy, a lot of hours.”
He did not even play a match and he already feeling confident after experiencing the conditions. He said:
“As soon as I came here, these balls are much lighter. They go faster in the air, so that’s why I can make them also drop faster before the baseline.”
