Ashleigh Barty is out of the Roland Garros after retiring with injury in the 2nd set of her match vs Linette.
It was not a good day for Barty who did not look quite right from the start of the match. She had to save 3 breakpoints in the first game and she did so but things only got worse. Her movement on the court looked off which was strange as it's one of her biggest strengths.
Linette kept applying the pressure and move Barty around the court which only made things worse. The Polish player broke Barty twice en route to a 6-1 1st set finish. Barty took an MTO after the set and continued to play in the 2nd but it was evident that nothing changed and she decided to retire.
It is not known what sort of injury it is but it is presumably tied with the lower body as her movement is severely affected. Retirement is a wise thing to do with the Wimbledon not far away. Get well soon, Ash.
