Ashleigh Barty was the latest of a slew of big names to have her bid for another Grand Slam crown ended at the French Open but this was due to injury with Magda Linette coming through 6-1, 2-2.
Barty came onto court with a pre-existing injury after facing Bernarda Pera and that she wasn't 100% after suffering a flare-up of a hip injury after landing during serving pre-tournament.
Adding to this, the World No.1 retired from her Quarter-Final at the Italian Open in Rome with a right arm injury and had her thigh strapped as of late.
This seemingly was due to the amount of tennis the Australian had played after her return to the tour.
But in a seemingly wide open Roland Garros, it won't see Barty adding to her 2019 triumph.
"It's heart-breaking," said Barty in her post match press conference after defeat to Linette.
“We have had such a brilliant clay court season, and to kind of get a little bit unlucky with timing more than anything, to have something kind of acute happen over the weekend and just kind of run out of time against the clock is disappointing. It won’t take away the brilliant three months that we have had, as much as it hurts right now.”
