Gauff saves set point in 2nd set to defeat Wang in straight sets

Coco Gauff is through to the next round of the Roland Garros after defeating Wang in straight sets 6-3 7-6(1).

American phenom Coco Gauff continued winning at the Roland Garros by defeating Wang in R2. It's their 2nd meeting in a week as they played in the Emilia-Romagna Open final which Gauff also won. In this one, it was a bit tougher for the American as she had to save a set point in the 2nd set but she did it.

The first set was a good one by Gauff as she did the same things that brought her the victory in Parma. She served well, she returned well and she did not commit too many mistakes despite being aggressive. However, things got problematic in the 2nd set.

She did not serve as well and committed several DF in key moments to give Want the lead. Wang was up a break three different times in the match but Gauff was able to come back each time. Wang even served for the set at 5-4 but Gauff was superb to come back into the match.

In the end, they went to a tiebreak where Gauff proved better winning 7-1. A hard-fought victory for Gauff but one she will take. She complicated matter in the 2nd set due to her woeful serving but she rallied back to keep it in two.
