Novak Djokovic played his 2nd match at the 2021 Roland Garros and he put forward a much more impressive showing than R1. Pablo Cuevas played fairly well initially hitting his serve at a very high rate. He was being extra aggressive hitting shots very deep inside the court forcing Novak on the defensive.
Djokovic struggled initially to counter that but once he found his footing and once Cuevas started to make more mistakes Djokovic was able to close out the first set. He was 0-40 down when serving for the set but routinely saved 3 BP's and won it 6-3.
From there it was mostly cruise control as nothing Cuevas did on the court was good enough to overcome Djokovic. The Serbian was playing and moving much better than in R1 and his form should only get better as the event continues.
Cuevas put up somewhat of a fight in the 3rd set but Djokovic was able to absorb all of his efforts and routinely march towards the end of the match. A good R2 French Open showing from Novak who Berankins next.
