During an interview with the Tennis Channel during the Monte Carlo tournament, Taylor Fritz revealed that his popularity increased after his victory against Rafael Nadal in California.
Taylor Fritz defeated Rafael Nadal in the Indian Wells final to complete a fairytale run that seemed impossible just an hour before the match. Fritz played with an injured ankle that gave him great pain during the warmups but he elected to play and he played the best match of his career. Now he experienced an uptick in popularity as he explained recently:
"My name is much better known in Europe than before, thanks above all to the victory against Rafael Nadal in Indian Wells. I am confident and I am expressing great tennis even on clay. My goal is to keep improving, I want become as complete as possible."
Fritz played really good tennis in Monte-Carlo with the American reaching the quarterfinal and losing to Davidovich Fokina.
