Carlos Alcaraz faces tricky situation after announcing confusion ahead of Six Kings Slam final

Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz was left confused with the announcement error during the Six Kings Slam. The 21-year-old is regarded as one of the best players currently playing in men’s tennis in the singles category along with the likes of Italy’s Jannik Sinner and Serbia’s Novak Djokovic.

Alcaraz played in the final of the exhibition event in Saudi Arabia — the Six Kings Slam — where he faced Sinner. Just before the final, the former world number one was left confused as he was ready to head out but the announcer made an announcement regarding the reigning world number one.

“Introducing the world’s No.1 player, a 23-year-old from Italy,” the announcer said. “This year alone he’s won 65 matches and he’s only lost five times, and along the way he’s won his first two Grand Slam Championships in Australia and the United States. Please welcome to Riyadh, Jannik Sinner.”

The match outcome was not a great one as well for the Spaniard who ended up on the losing side with a score of 6-7, 6-3, 6-3. Alcaraz is going through an impressive campaign. The 21-year-old, for the first time in his career, won two Grand Slams this year. He first lifted the French Open after beating Germany’s Alexander Zverev in the final in a five-set thriller with a score of 6–3, 2–6, 5–7, 6–1, 6–2. He then lifted the Wimbledon title for the second time in two years after beating Serbia’s Djokovic in the final in straight sets with a score of 6-2, 6-2, 7-6. Alcaraz’s most recent triumph came in the China Open where he defeated Sinner in the final with a score of 6-7, 6-4, 7-6. Other than that, Alcaraz also won a silver medal at the Paris Olympics. He finished on the losing side during the final of the singles category event to Djokovic in straight sets with a score of 7-6, 7-6.
