In the first set we saw only one break ball, which Zverev got in the first game, but he failed to convert it and the set went to the tie-break. Zverev managed to win it 7-2 and got into the lead.
In the second set, both players held their service until the 9th game when Zverev hesitated and Isner took his chance. The American won the second set 6-4 and his teammates Jack Sock and Jordan Thompson were already celebrating.
In a super tie-break, Isner, encouraged by winning the second set, the atmosphere in Geneva, but also the support of captain John McEnroe, dominated when he defeated Zverev 10-1.
Isner scored a third point for Team World after yesterday's three losses, when teams earn 2 points for each win on the second day. After unsuccessful first day Vice Captain of Team World Patrick McEnroe showed a real belief in his team when he said:
“Well, there is no doubt it’s difficult, but there is also no doubt that we believe we can do it”, said Patrick McEnroe.
“And when you look at the two matches we have lost today, both were in supertiebreaks, one of which we had a couple of match points in, in the first match.
“We are two points down and we believe we are going to bounce back tomorrow.”
