The All-American Team Cup will go ahead this weekend in Atlanta despite a resurgence in positive coronavirus cases. John Isner, the top-ranked player set to attend the event is in favor of the event going through and he can't wait as he expressed it. Isner dismissed criticism that the event is being held too early as the tennis world is still heavily under the microscope following the events at the Adria Open.
On the event going ahead Isner said:
“You coronabros can stay in your basement all you want. I choose to live my life and play/promote the sport I love in a safe manner."
Local tennis reporters were quick to point out that holding this type of event even with a limited number of madness is out of touch and complete madness. Ben Rothenberg was particularly vocal in the criticism pointing out that an employee that works at the facility already tested positive.
Isner responded to the reporter by calling the "spooky headlines" factually incorrect. He once again pointed out that every imaginable safety protocol is being employed and that the event will go ahead despite concerns from neutral observers.
The All-American Team Cup is set to start on Friday and hopefully, everything will go fine. We will have coverage for you daily.
