Wimbledon might see their expansion plans returned back to the drawing board as the council planning meetings have been pushed back to February.
Wimbledon planned a huge expansion that would see the complex gain new courts and all sorts of things but it did not find approval among the local residents which launched all sorts of complaints. New ones could make the whole thing go back to the drawing board as the council meetings were pushed back to February at the earliest.
The project has already been delayed by over a year and many believe the new legal challenges could prolong them for an additional 18 months. Even the local MPs oppose it with Labour's Fleur Anderson and Conservatives Stephen Hammond both against the project.
Anderson said:
"I’m really disappointed Wimbledon hasn’t negotiated, they’ve come to consultations but they haven’t moved at all. Maybe there could be a pop-up stadium, maybe there could be protections."
