Stefano Tsitsipas put on a clinical display on Wednesday, dispatching of Pedro Martinez in the second round of
Roland Garros.
The fifth seed secured an easy 6-3 6-4 6-3 victory over the Spaniard, hitting 45 winners and winning 26 out of 27 points at the net. However, he tried to downplay his ruthless efficiency.
"It was a very tough match despite it finishing in three sets," said the 22-year old after the win.
"It feels good to be back at Roland-Garros. I like playing here. It brings back memories from when I was little, watching the tournament. It's great to be part of it."
After reaching the
French Open semifinals last year, the Greek star is hoping to improve on that result as he expressed his love for the clay courts of Paris.
"I find the clay here one of the best clay courts in the world maybe and one of the best clay courts I have played at," revealed Tsitsipas. "It's one of the most prestigious events of our sport. I'm really happy to be part of it."
The World No.5 will face big-serving American
John Isner in the third round.
