Carlos Alcaraz started off 2022 well taking down Tabilo 6-2 6-2 6-3 in the first round of the Australian Open and the win left the youngster feeling good.
Alcaraz is a name many tennis players will closely watch in 2022 as the Spaniard has the talent to fully break out. He is one many expect to see close to the top 10 by the end of the year and so far it's been going good. Any time you start off the year with a win is a great time and Alcaraz agrees saying after the match:
”I felt really good. I didn’t expect that this first match was going to be really good for me. I played a great level in the first match of the season. Really good feelings… hope the next matches are going to be the same.”
Alcaraz is also noticing that his comfort level is growing on hard courts. It's growing so much that he is getting more comfortable on them than on clay courts where he grew up:
”I’m starting to get more comfortable on hard court than on clay courts. I think the most tournaments of the year are on hard court, so you have to be ready.”
Asked about his goal he said it's getting into the top 15 explainings that it's a realistic goal that makes it easier for him to pursue without having too much pressure.
