The Greek player cruised against his colleague from Sweden 6-2 6-4 6-3. It was their 2nd match ever and the first was actually played in Australia as well. Tsitsipas was even more impressive that time around but the Greek won't be disappointed by this score as he got off to a good start and avoided complicating things.
From the start, it was evident that Tsitsipas was the more superior player and that the conditions suited his style more. He returned quite aggressively attacking a rather weak first serve by Ymer setting up points mostly with his forehand. Ymer upped his own aggressiveness to counter Tsitsipas but the consistency was a problem.
Stefanos won the opening set with 6-2 after which Ymer switched it up a bit with varying results. It worked to a degree but Tsitsipas still showed a decent amount of patience and waited for his chance. When it presented itself he struck and won the second set with 6-4.
A similar thing happened in the 3rd set with the more or less the same result. Tsitsipas once again waited patiently for his chance and once he got he took it. He finished it off with 6-3 to move on to the next round.
